2 Samuel 15 - David's Darkest Hour

In 1942, Red Cross packages arrived for prisoners in German concentration camps. When the Red Cross asked for an accounting, 23,000 packages were missing. When Nazi German collapsed, many of these packages were found in the barracks of SS officers. The packages were not intended for them, but they took them anyway. In 2 Samuel 15, that is what we find. Absalom attempts to seize the kingship from his father, a kingship that doesn’t belong to him. In David’s darkest days, we learn about conspiracy, manipulation, and how to rely on God when all hope is gone.

1 Samuel 27:1-28:2 - Wandering From God

In 2010, the journal of Cognitive Therapy and Research examined the way depression changes the decision-making process. The researchers concluded that the likelihood of someone making a poor decision increased with the number of depression symptoms one develops. As we return to 1 Samuel, we find David battling depression as he is exhausted after running from Saul for years. In desperation, he stops relying on God to protect him. He relies on himself and makes poor decisions. Join us as we learn what can happen in our life when we wander from God.

Command 9 - Do Not Lie

When he finally turned himself into police, the amount he stole was $64.8 billion dollars. Bernie Madoff pulled off the largest financial frauds in U.S. history and the largest Ponzi scheme in world history. How did he do it? It was based on his ability to lie. He was such a good liar that almost 5,000 people entrusted their savings into his hands. While Bernie pulled off one of the largest lies in world history that damaged the US economy, we are inundated with hundreds of smaller lies every day, which seek to damage our history. Join us as we learn the source of lies and God's plan to restore truth.

Genesis 20 - Relapse

After seven months of sobriety, while dealing with a stressful time in the office, she rinsed her mouth with Scope after brushing her teeth. Instead of spitting it out, the sudden rush of alcohol was so exhilarating that she swallowed it. That began Vicki's relapse into alcoholism that continued for months, not with traditional booze but by swallowing her mouthwash after brushing her teeth. The triggers that can relapse us into our old sinful habits come from the most unexpected places and are hard to avoid. As we follow the story of Abraham, we find he struggled with relapsing into persistent sin when he ran across his sin trigger. In this message we learn where to find hope when we struggle with relapsing into persistent sin.
